About The Author
Dr. C. S. Raghu Raman received Post Graduate Degree in Law from Osmania University, Hyderabad in 1983. He secured Top Rank' in the subject of 'Mercantile Law' in LL.M. course.He received his Ph.D. in 2019 from Osmania University, Hyderabad on the topic of 'Criminal Prosecutions for the Offence of Dishonor of Cheques."He published the book 'Supreme Court on Criminal Prosecutions for the Offence of Dishonor of Cheques under the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881.He is continuing his career teaching law even today, after retirement in 2012 with 40 years of experience, beginning from 1984 as a fulltime faculty in different law schools.He started delivering lectures in law as Visiting Professor, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, West Bengal, Delhi, Bihar States Judicial Academies from 2015 and 'continues even today. He gave lectures at National Police Academy and Telangana State Police Academy in Hyderabad for 1 year and 4 years. He was Resource Person for fifteen workshops, along with Justices of High Courts of AP and Telangana States, held for all the Judges of the districts in both States.He received letter in 2002 from Ministry Law, Justice and Company Affairs, Government of India that his two recommendations given in 1997 to declare Offence of Dishonour of Cheque' as a 'Compoundable Offence' and to delete 'Sec. 23 of the Hindu Succession Act, 1956, partially restricting the right of women in claiming partition of dwelling house' were accepted with 'Sec. 147' introduced in Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881 and 'Sec. 23 was deleted' from the Hindu Succession Act, 1956.He published about 70 articles on different topics of grey areas of law in almost all legal journals like SCC, SCC online, AIR, Criminal Law Journal, Manupatra, Lawz, Supreme Court Journal, Andhra Law Times, Journal of UP Judicial Academy of Uttar Pradesh, Journal of Indian Law Institute, Journal of Chartered Accountants of India, Practical Lawyer, Kerala Times, Maharashtra Law Journal and Karnataka Law Journal etc.His article on the topic of 'Territorial Jurisdiction of Courts to try Dishonour of Cheques Cases' was selected as the 'Best Article' in 2013 by Editorial Board of the Journal of Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, New Delhi, leading to further Amendments to the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881 in 2015 as suggested and recommended by the Author.
